New antiaging supplement

Happy, smiling senior couple
Promising new medicine could add more years to your lives
In this update we introduce another new antiaging supplement, Rapamycin, as the latest approach to cutting-edge antiaging.

There has been a renewed interest in Rapamycin, which was discovered around 30 years ago, in late 1980s.

Rapamycin supplement discovery

It was first discovered in the soil samples taken on the Easter Island, which is locally known as Rapa Nui. Rapamycin was thus named after the island where it comes from.

It was termed as mTOR - mammalian target of rapamycin. It was discovered that it assists the control of cell growth, its proliferation and survival. Hence the name of being mTOR inhibitor.

High doses have been used clinically in the treatment of cancers. But it's especially used for immune suppression, to help prevent the rejection in organ transplants.

Animal experiments with Rapamycin

The antiaging aspect comes from animal experiments conducted by a team of researchers from the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, at the Helmholtz Zentrum in Munich. The results of this research have shown that Rapamycin increased the lifespan of mice - 9% in males and 13% in females.

In their research summary, the researchers assert that the reason why there was improved longevity was that Rapamycin helped to prevent tumour growth.

Furthermore, in 2016, the University of Washington trialled low-dose Rapamycin on dogs. Within just 10-weeks period, they showed that those using Rapamycin had significantly improved heart functionality when compared with those that did not.

Cutting-edge antiaging research

All this adds up to Rapamycin being at the cutting edge of antiaging medical research that shows a good potential. It's unclear at this stage what would be the right human doses, but it's unlikely that more than 5mg taken per would be needed.
